Our Philosophy
Since 1990, Faridaat Salukis has existed as a small scale “hobby” kennel producing quality, not quantity. Our BREEDING PROGRAM is focussed on producing distinguished, moderate hounds, and preserving the unique qualities and original function of the Saluki. We do not breed for exaggerated type or movement or specific coat colours. We strive for Salukis that perform well in the field, have excellent health, and possess outgoing, people-loving temperaments. Breeding for loving companions is one of the most important aspects of our program because every puppy must be a delightful family member! We pride ourselves on our home-raised, Canadian-bred Salukis!
Our Breeding Program
We breed sparingly every 2-4 years, usually when we desire to add a pup to our breeding stock. There are exceptions of course, but that is our aim. We have a limit on how many dogs we feel can be kept in our home and still receive proper care, attention, and socialization of each dog. Occasionally, we will enter into a co-breeding with another breeder and puppies may be available more often.
Since we breed to produce Salukis to epitomize their original purpose, we prefer to place pups in homes where they will be coursed and/or shown; however, not all pups are suited to show/performance events so we occasionally have pet pups available too. Before you contact us about the potential of becoming a home for one of our pups, please review these important pages:
